MILLAR: Martha Roberteen (nee Johnston) - A resident of Ridgetown, Martha Millar passed away at the Village on the Ridge, Ridgetown with family at her side on Friday, March 4, 2016 at the age of 94. Born in Kingsville, Martha was the daughter of the late Robert and Annie (Currie) Johnston. Beloved wife of the late James Charles "J.C." Millar (1995). Loving mother of Jim Millar (Marsha) of Chatham and Joyce Beaton (Denny) of Ridgetown. Predeceased by her daughter Janet Marion Millar. Proud grandmother of Joshua Millar (Ashley) of Rondeau Park, Blake Millar (Melissa Kocon) of Chatham, Tara Nicholson (Matthew) of Guelph and Shannon Beaton (Steve Ptaszynski) of West Lorne. Great-Grandma to Charlie James Millar, Willow Jade Ptasynski, Andrew Tyson Nicholson and Joyce Jane Nicholson. Predeceased by her sister Marion Trudgeon (late Andy). Also missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. Martha graduated in 1943 as the class valedictorian for the nursing program in Chatham. She graduated as a Registered Nurse, and worked at the Chatham General Hospital for many years. She was also a Nursing Supervisor at the Southwest Regional Centre. Martha had many hobbies, including curling, square dancing, bridge, theatre and plays. She enjoyed traveling around the world with her husband J.C. She specifically enjoyed her trips to the white North as well as Northern Ireland, and many parts of Europe. They also enjoyed the warmth, having traveled most of the Carribean and the Southern States. She was a very dedicated grandmother and great-grandmother who never missed an opportunity to "gather the clan". She was active in the community, particularly with the Church of the Advent A.C.W. and the Ridgetown Senior's Centre. She was also an honourary member of the I.O.D.E. Family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 76 Main Street East, Ridgetown on Sunday from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of the Advent, 20 Church Street South, Ridgetown on Monday, March 7, 2016 with The Rev. John Maroney officiating. Cremation to follow with a private family interment to be held at Greenwood Cemetery at a later date. Donations made in memory of Martha to the Church of the Advent or Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
