Obituary of Kenneth Leslie Hearns

HEARNS: Kenneth Leslie -

Peacefully at Bluewater Health, Sarnia, after a gallant fight with cancer, and with great strength, Ken Hearns, 71 years, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2018. Ken had a passion for life and loved people, golfing, stock car races and bowling.

He was a graduate of St. Clair College, Windsor, as a Chemical Technologist in 1969. Ken was employed by J. Clark Keith for three years. He and his wife then moved to Sarnia, where Ken worked at Lambton Generating Station for 23 years and later transferred to Atikokan Generating Station in 1996, where he worked for seven and a half years. Ken loved the Northwest Area and referred to it as God's Country.

He retired February 1, 2003 after 33 1/2 years of service and then moved back to Sarnia. Ken was a kind, giving, humorous, sociable, and compassionate soul and was always ready to help anyone in need.

Surviving are his wife and best friend Mary, mother Nellie Hearns, siblings Celia Collins (Tony), Lorraine Clark (Bob), Leonard Hearns (Lea), Charlie Hearns (Sandy), Brian Hearns (Pat) and Karen Hearns.

Predeceased by his father Keith Hearns and his nephew Jeffrey Hearns.

Also survived by many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. He will be missed by his dear friend Lee Tarasiuk of Quispamsis, New Brunswick, all of his retiree pals and all of his bowling buddies.

As per Ken's wishes, cremation has taken place with a private family funeral service to be held at Fairview Cemetery, Dutton at a later date.

Sympathy may be expressed and appreciated through memorial donations to the Residence on the St. Clair - Resident's Council or Friends of the New Animal Shelter.
