I was a teacher at both Ridgetown and Blenheim high schools and always enjoyed Laurie's humourous and no-nonsense talks to the students on important life lessons. He was never heavy-handed, always balanced.

I was taken back when I heard that Laurie had passed away. I have known Laurie for 39 years and worked closely with him from 1990 until 1992. Laurie was a good police officer and a great person who always had a humorous story to tell. Whenever I returned to Kent county I tried to make it a point to drop in and visit with Laurie.
Jan, Jim and family may you find comfort in remembering the good times and know that others are thinking of you at this sad time.

I am so sorry for your loss. He was such a genuine and caring person. I will never forget the day Laurie found out that I was interested in joining the OPP, so he took me for a coffee in town, and took a few hours out of his day to share all his stories and experiences with me. Our condolences to the family. I remember many years ago when Mr. Dowthwaite came to a meeting at Blenheim United Church and taught we ladies how to try to protect ourselves.
