I have such wonderful memories of Cornelia as my 'Spanish student' during an evening credit course that I taught at RDHS over 30 years ago. Cornelia audited the class and never missed a night. She was a delightful addition to our class ... All the rest of whom were 16 year old students. We all embraced her presence, her contributions and her enthusiasm for learning. I have never forgotten how Cornelia enriched my teaching career. My deepest condolences to her loved ones.

Cornelia was an amazing woman. She was always so enthusiastic and encouraging for our Girl Guides. I will never forget her braving the cold weather to come camping with the girls to show them that anyone can do what they put their minds to. She will be missed and fondly remembered. My deepest condolences to the Sheehy family. My mother, Wilma Thiesen, was at the nursing home with Cornelia. They were friends even before they both ended up there and often shared interesting conversations. I myself had a couple of enjoyable conversations with Cornelia when I was visiting my mother at The Ridge. She even shared photos of herself in Holland and gave me an old scrapbook of old postcards etc.
May your family be as comforted by so many wonderful memories as the Thiesen family is.

I got to know Mrs. Sheehy when I worked at The Village. I loved it when she would come up front and ask me to type some of her stories, poems and songs so that she could share them with her family and friends. I came to know Cornelia over the last decade, after moving to Ridgetown. We had a shared love of gardening, and I always watched her as she cycled to the shops on Main Street. Mrs. Sheehy felt very strongly that we should all get more exercise!
During our many chats, I learned about the "Hunger Winter" late in WWII and tales of the German occupation of Holland. Cornelia had so many memories to share of her life in Ridgetown; Guiding, "martial arts" and even being in the polar bear club, well into her later years... She was very proud of her children and grandchildren, and utterly devoted to her beloved Jim...
Cornelia loved to swim, and enjoyed many visits to our backyard pool, where she was adamant that she must dive in, even when her vision was virtually gone... Her zest for life and enjoyment of good conversation, and a drop of wine, endeared her to everyone. Her smile was infectious! Summers at poolside will never be the same,,,

Cornelia was an inspiration and role model to me. I enjoyed my guiding days with Cornelia- I learned so much from her. When I told her how impressed I was with her Brownie camp lists and schedules, she laughed- those lists were produced by her husband, James, she said and she relied on him to keep her organized. Cornelia taught me to appreciate and honour Remembrance Day. Her story of being a young girl in Holland during the war broke my heart- walking to school past a bake shop touching the store window longingly looking at the bread - her stomach growling because she hadn't had breakfast or even supper the night before. As soon as Canada announced it had its own flag- Cornelia drew one and hung it outside priding herself as being the first person in Ridgetown to fly it! Cornelia taught me to reuse-my favourite- the milk bags. They are good solid bags! Then there were those protest letters we wrote in her living room- drinking tea. Cornelia was an extraordinary person-I will remember her always with love.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Mrs. Sheehan. I have been her hairdresser for many years. I have always enjoyed her stories of scouting, hiking, travel, her black belt to name a few. She would always come in to get her hair done for the polar bear dip and always to celebrate her birthday.
I especially remember her 90th....I think she had 3 or 4 gatherings with friends and family and amazingly did a routine on parallel bars to inspire others.
I will miss seeing her in the Village coming into bring communion to my mom. Cornelia was an amazing lady and friend and will be missed.

To Jim, Tim, Paul, Ben, Monica and the rest of the family: We were so sad to hear of Cornelia's passing. She was a wonderful person and a best friend of ours. She was very kind, and caring. She was very generous and loved the great outdoors. We cycled, went for walks and cross-country skied. Our many visits and shared meals will remain in our memory. I often think of the time I offered to drive her to our fitness class due to rain showers. Her response was "Let's walk - we won't melt!

To the Sheehy Family,
My deepest and most heartfelt condolences go out to all of your family at this time. I recall so many wonderful and fond memories of your dear mother (Cornelia) during the time I chummed with both Ben and Paul.
Cornelia was such a free-spirited and caring person and I always enjoyed any opportunity to see and talk with her in my younger days. She was a very accepting, open-minded and unselfish person. I am so happy that Cornelia lived to see a long and fulfilling life.
