Obituary of John Robert McFeggan

McFeggan: John Robert - of Highgate. Passed away suddenly at Four Counties Hospital, Newbury, on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at the age of 83.

Loving husband of the late Joan McFeggan (nee Bellamy) (2015) for 56 years.

Beloved father of Joy McFeggan of Guelph, Jeffrey McFeggan of Dresden, Jennifer McFeggan of Stoney Creek and Brenda (Tom) Vink of Thamesville. Grandfather of Jenna, Victoria, Shelby, Drew, Thomas, Tonya (Chris), Sean and Kyle (Andrea).

Great-Grandfather to Julia and Andrew.

Dear brother to Margaret Kelley.

Brother-in-law to Mary Ellen McFeggan and Chuckie, Judith, Gerald, Robert and John Bellamy.

Predeceased by his parents Roy (1990) and Hattie (Richardson) McFeggan (1979), his brother Stanley McFeggan, and brothers-in-law Ray Bellamy Jr. and Leonard Kelley.

John will be dearly missed by his loving extended family and friends.

John was an active member of the Turin and surrounding Orford Community, and was often found at a rink or a diamond anywhere around Ontario supporting friends and family. John "Whipper" McFeggan was a member of the Bothwell Slo Boys hockey team and wore the number 35 for the Die-Hards baseball team for many years. He was involved with both local and international plowing matches. John worked for Bell Canada, Thamesville and Bothwell Hydro and was a lifelong farmer. He loved to share his beautiful voice, accompanied by "The Guys" who would perform weekly at the Village. John was active member of the Emmanuel Congregational Church Choir and was a previous member of the Turin United Church and Choir.

JR was a kind-hearted gentleman who loved his family and his community. His dry and sweet sense of humour will be missed by many.

Family and friends will gather at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 76 Main Street East, Ridgetown on Friday, April 5, 2019 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm. A Celebration of John's Life will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2019, at 1 p.m. at Emmanuel Congregational Church, 68 Erie St. North Ridgetown. Reception to follow.

Donations made in memory of John to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
