Obituary of Frederick John Harden

Harden, Frederick "Fred" John-

Dr. Frederick "Fred" John Harden, a resident of Ridgetown,  passed away peacefully on Wednesday September 30, 2020 at the Village on the Ridge at the age of 94.  

Born in Oshawa Ontario and raised in Whitby, he was the son of the late William Frederick and Mary Ann (Tucker) Harden.  

Beloved husband of  the late Evelyn Jean (Balmer) Harden.

Dear father of Randall 'Randy' (Leslie) Harden of London, Blair (Donna Matheson) Harden of London, John (Susan) Harden of London, and Carol (Kevin) Kleinstuber of Cambridge.

Much loved grandpa to Graham Harden, Drew (Heather Budd) Harden, Paige Harden, Brett Harden, Nicole Harden, Josh Curran, Bradley Kleinstuber, and Bryan Kleinstuber.

Brother of the late William Robert Harden.

Fred will be remembered as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, Veterinary Public Health, Veterinary Service Branch of the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food and the Ridgetown Veterinary Services Laboratory.

Fred was an avid sports participant while growing up in Whitby and was inducted into the Whitby Sports Hall of Fame for his hockey.  He was also known for many track and field events.  He was a long time member of the Anglican Church of the Advent in Ridgetown, a member of the Ridgetown Public School Board, and was active in the Ridgetown Horticultural Society.  Fred and his wife Evelyn enjoyed round and square dancing, golf, curling, cross country skiing and travelling.

Cremation has taken place.  A public visitation will take place on Monday October 5, 2020 from 11:00am to 1:00pm at McKinlay Funeral Home, 76 Main St. E. in Ridgetown with a private family service taking place at 1:00pm with Rev.
