Obituary of Cam Hughes

HUGHES: George Campbell (Cam) -

Today we celebrate having George Campbell Hughes in our life as father, husband, world traveller and friend for 95 years. Cam passed away peacefully on Friday, Jan. 7, 2022. Predeceased by sister Eleanor Hughes in 1932. He was blessed to have the companionship of his wife Rita for the last 6 years. Predeceased by his wife Dorothy Valaine Hughes (Goldhawk/Butler) in 2014. Dorothy and Cam travelled locally and world wide with family and fellow travellers for many years, often with Cam driving the bus. Hughes Travel gave wings to the 25 years of love and friendship they shared. Telling stories of their holidays and group travel adventures was a testament to Cam’s good health and memory in recent years.

Cam was an avid antique tractor and steam engine enthusiast. Many years were spent participating in local tractor and steam engine events. His knowledge and expertise were widely known and well respected.

Cam will be greatly missed by daughter, Janice Beckett (George), Brenda and Andy Sarkany, Mary Ann and Ron Balcom, Bob Goldhawk, Tim and Diane Goldhawk, Barb Goldhawk and Bill Goldhawk. Close friends Wayne and Gloria Jackson and his many church friends were important to Cam as were his many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Family will receive friends at Mr. Zion Presbyterian Church, 59 Main Street East, Ridgetown on Saturday, January 15, 2022 from 10:00 am until the Funeral Service at 11:00am.
