Obituary of Mary Lou Speed

SPEED: Mary Louise (nee Holdaway) -

A resident of Dearness Home in London, formerly of Aylmer and Newbury, Mary Lou Speed passed away on Monday, October 24, 2022 at the age of 92.

Born in Harwich Township, Mary Lou was the daughter of the late Howard and Edna (Reynolds) Holdaway.

Beloved wife of the late Bill Speed (2012) for 62 1/2 years.

Dear mother of Alan and Beth Speed of Alymer, Ann Burleigh (late Don) of London, Terry and Debra Speed of Chatham, Patricia and Dwight Rabideau of Charing Cross, Amy Lupa of London and predeceased by Barbara Jean Speed (1954).

Grandmother of 15, great-grandmother of 14 and predeceased by granddaughter Michella Lupa (1992) and grandson Andrew Speed (2017).

Survived by her sister Eileen Sheppy of Blenheim. Predeceased by her brothers Ernie and Laird Holdaway.

Survived by her sister-in-law Louise Claeys and brother-in law Don Speed.

Mary Lou along with her husband Bill operated the family business outside of Rondeau Park. She was a member of Creekside Community Church, Aylmer and formerly an active member at Emmanuel Christian Church in Newbury.

Mary Lou was a very social person and loved to help people. Her family was very important to her and she loved to attend family gatherings.

Family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 76 Main Street East, Ridgetown on Friday, October 28, 2022 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. A Celebration of Mary Lou's Life will be held at the Funeral Home on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Jim Kettle officiating. Interment to follow in Morpeth Cemetery.
