Obituary of Harold Aubrey Rathwell

RATHWELL, Harold Aubrey, a resident of Chatham, passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2014 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance at the age of 81. Predeceased by his parents Harold & Arta Rathwell (Taggart). Beloved husband to Shirley Rathwell (Baynton) for 60 years. Loving father of Allan Rathwell, of Chatham, and Randy (Connie) Rathwell, of London. Cherished grandfather of Scott (Jenna) Rathwell, of London, and Sheri (Lee) Bray, of London. Loving great-grandfather of Cole and Riley. Predeceased by his sisters Eileen and Roma. Harold is survived by several nieces and nephews. Harold retired from Chatham Hydro after 41 years. He was a former member of the Chatham Kiltie Band and later formed his own orchestra called the Mello-Tones. Harold enjoyed golf and coached in the Chatham minor baseball system. Special thanks to the staff at Copper Terrace, Riverview Gardens, the PSWs of Bayshore, Dr. Parry and both the medical staff and nursing staff at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. Family to receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham, on Tuesday from 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at the Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m with Rev. Susan Jolley officiating. Entombment to follow at the Maple Leaf Mausoleum, Chatham. Donations in memory of Harold to the Heart & Stroke Foundation and the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated by the family.
