Obituary of Margaret "Peggy" Pegg

PEGG: Anna Margaret Grace "Peggy" (nee Rose) - Peacefully, with family and friends present, Peggy Pegg passed onto Glory, at the Village on the Ridge, Ridgetown, on March 31, 2016. She was 96. Peggy was born in the woods at New Scotland, to Grace (Munford) and Wallace Rose. June 16th, 1919 was distinguished both as the day of her birth and the hottest day on record, for that date, for years to come. While her Mother diligently named her Anna Margaret Grace Rose, for her Grandmothers, her father declared” She’ll always be Peggy to me”! So, it came, that, at the age of 19, she married the love of her life, Leonard Pegg, of Blenheim, and Peg A. Rose became Peggy Pegg. She was predeceased by her husband Leonard, after 55 years of marriage, in 1993. Also predeceased by her sister Jean ( MacDougall (Mac)Guilds, and Leonard’s brother Peter Pegg and wife Evelyn of Erie Beach. She is survived by Nephew Hugh MacDougall(Ruth) Blenheim and Peter Pegg (Pat), Wiarton and Arthur Pegg, Blenheim, as well as great nieces and nephews. Peggy was a devoted wife and Mother of 4 children. Martha Mary (Andy) Cochran of Mt. Currie B.C., Denny (Ann) Pegg of Rondeau, Rosemary(Craig) Mitton, Rondeau and Chuck of Rondeau. Her Grandchildren, Chris(Sara) Pegg, Blenheim, John (Kristen) Pegg, New Scotland, Mike (Patti) Pegg, Palo Alto California, Sandy (Melanie) Cochran, Mt. Currie BC, Scott (Seija) Cochran, Mt. Currie BC, Peter Mitton(Christina Jabbour), Toronto, Charlie (Karla) Mitton, Cassiah (Nate) Pryor, Windsor, Nick(Sarah Roessner) Pegg, Cambridge, and Dominique Pegg, Alabama, will miss her generous spirit as will the Great Grandchildren, Henry and Tommy Pegg, Brayden and Emma Pegg, Benjamin, Katelyn and Maia Pegg, Sarah Cochran and Vanessa Mitton. Peggy was the proof reader for the Blenheim News Tribune while she and Leonard were proprietors, prior to moving to the farm at New Scotland. She was an avid gardener and a farmer at heart. She was renowned for her ability to sew and to tat, leaving tatted tablecloths for each of her children. She designed and hand stitched Rosemary’s wedding gown along with countless pairs of booties and socks for her family. She delivered milk with her father, through out Rondeau, from their dairy and made life long friendships with many at Rondeau Park. One of whom was Henry Ford, who gave Peggy her first car ride. Peggy has lived the last 5 years at the Village. The family extends our most sincere gratitude to all who made her life comfortable and satisfying there. The family will receive guests at McKinlay Funeral Home, 76 Main Street East, Ridgetown on Monday, April 4th, 2016 from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Emmanuel Church, on Erie St. North, Ridgetown, on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. Donations made in memory of Peggy to the Emmanuel Congregational Church or Hashtag Hope would be appreciated.
