Obituary of John 'Jack' Authier

AUTHIER: John “Jack” A resident of Chatham, Jack Authier died peacefully, surrounded by his family on Saturday June 28, 2014. He was born in Raleigh Township, 80 years ago on February 10, 1934, son of the late Fred & Rachel (Frankland) Authier. Beloved husband of 57 years to Marlene (McEwen) Authier. Loving father of Alison & Kerry Drew, and Andrea & Dennis Poole, all of Chatham. Cherished grandfather of Evan, Kiera, and Brielle Drew, Lauren and Alexandra Poole. Dear brother of Alfred & Margaret Authier of Wheatley, Bette Brooker (late Ralph) of Tilbury, and brother-in-law of Alan & Marion McEwen of Ridgetown. He will be fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews. Jack retired from Union Gas after a long career throughout Ontario. For a time during his career, he served as President of the Ontario Petroleum Institute. A heartfelt thank you is extended to the staff of Meadowpark Nursing Home for their care and compassion. Family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Wednesday July 2, 2014 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday July 3, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. A Family Interment service will take place at Shanks Cemetery at a later date.
